Changing Views Present New Opportunities for Youth Apprenticeship

Description

This article summarizes learnings from six virtual focus groups about youth apprenticeship with Indiana high school students and parents. In partnership with the FDR Group, a nonpartisan public opinion research firm, and Ascend Indiana, a PAYA grantee, the focus groups were designed to explore participants’ experiences, concerns, and hopes about life after high school. The ultimate goal of listening to these students and parents is to help local and state-level organizations in Indiana make informed decisions about designing youth apprenticeship programs and developing messaging to promote them. Results from focus groups with parents and students in Indiana offer lessons for designing and communicating about youth apprenticeship.
