Racial equity and inclusion in tech: Can apprenticeships help change hiring practices?

Brookings facilitated a panel to discuss the push for racial inclusion in the tech sector and how apprenticeships might benefit the sector moving forward. Given the tech sector’s recent market downturn—coupled with tech companies’ public struggle to hire, retain, and advance workers of color—new hiring approaches that move beyond corporate responsibility and become sustainably embedded in the core tech business model are urgently needed. This event includes perspectives from the U.S. Dept. of Labor, Airbnb, Kapor Center, and Bitwise Industries.
